The Castle Paws and Taws is an American Western Square Dance club. It is located in the Beautiful hills of West Central Pennsylvania near the Ohio border in historic New Castle. We are just an hour North West of Pittsburgh.
We dance every Wednesday night except for holiday weeks from April through mid October. We dance the 2nd and 4th Wednesday from January through April. (see menu for links to schedules). May through mid October we dance in the Cascade Park Pavilion. In November and December 2017 we will be dancing only twice each month. See the Calendar page for dates. Every dance starts at 7:30 pm and ends at 10:00 pm unless otherwise noted on the schedule.
Cascade Park Pavilion Dance Hall was built over 108 years ago for dancing. It has high ceilings with wood lattice work. It has a linoleum covered wood floor. Since it has no heat we will move to the First United Methodist Church, 135 Decker Drive (Neshannock Twp.), New Castle, PA 16105 from mid October through April. The church is just off of Route 18 North of New Castle. Decker Drive is block south of Route 18 (Wilmington Rd) & Maitland Lane (7-11 is on the corner).
We dance a mixture of Plus and Mainstream every dance depending on the level of dancers attending that dance. We will have Cuers for almost all dances after November 1, 2017. We are a traditional club and encourage dancers to dress in traditional Square Dance attire year round but allow for less traditional apparel if you want.
